Eminent psychologist Zajonc believed that merely being aware of an audience produces a sense of arousal within those performing tasks. Put simply, arousal has the effect of making easy tasks easier and hard tasks harder. And let's face it - there's absolutely nothing easy about pitching your ideas in front of complete strangers who are studying your every word.
