Case Study
iQuit abstinence app
Deepblue produced the iQuit app to help users overcome bad or troublesome habits that were causing them money or health issues – anything from addiction to smoking, drinking or even overshopping.
Overview
iQuit is an Android / iOS app which helps users overcome problematic or expensive habits by giving structured goals and rewards to help stay quit. The app calculates how much users spend on a habit monthly or annually and prompts them to pick a goal as a replacement for the money they’re spending. This can be anything – a holiday, a car, a new laptop – anything the user considers desirable. The app then sends regular notifications showing progress – including alerts for money saved, time quit and time until the product goal can be achieved.
A smoking-specific version, iQuitSmoking, was released later featuring smoking-specific milestones – including time of life added, health benefits of quitting and cigarettes not smoked. Both apps were released in two versions – one with adverts, one without (priced at 0.99€). Since release, the free versions of both apps have generated significant revenue from in-app advertising.
Scope of work
Deepbluemedia was responsible for every aspect of the iQuit app production, marketing and promotion. From logo design to SEO, app dev and launch, we handled the full scope of work in-house.
Our remit included: app design and dev / logo design / a Fully Responsive marketing website / SEO and ASO / video promo production / social media promotion / infographics.

SKILLS:
web, app, branding, social, video
Icon / logo design
We produced clear, simple logos for iQuit and iQuitSmoking with a common theme across both which were used on the marketing websites and across the major social media channels. The logos were also rescaled and simplified for use on the app launch icons to lend cohesion to the brand
Responsive website
Deepblue produced Fully Responsive, single page websites for use across all devices – mobile, tablet, laptop and desktop – to help further promote the iQuit and iQuitSmoking apps. The marketing sites were designed to give prospective users an overview of the benefits of using the app as well as the key functions.
We also included short user guides – despite the fact both apps were very easy to set up and use.
Marketing / SEO / ASO
As part of a structured promotional campaign, Deepblue performed extensive Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) on the app websites as well App Store Optimisation (ASO) to increase downloads.
Figures suggest around 78% of all consumer journeys now start with an online search so this SEO and ASO work was vital – particularly in the early launch stages of both apps – to help generate interest and encourage traffic to the app stores.

Infographics
Infographics explain complex information in a simplified format. They’re also highly viral. We produced an infographic for iQuitSmoking showing the dangers of smoking and a second infographic for iQuit highlighting alcohol abuse.
The infographic was then posted to social media and shared extensively, thereby increasing interest in the app and generating more installs.

Promo videos
As with all app productions, we realised we needed to generate interest to drive downloads of the app. Consequently, we produced two videos which would be used across the main social channels, in the app stores and on the apps’ websites.
iQuit app launch video
Deepblue produced Full-HD launch videos for iQuit-App and iQuitSmoking showing the main screens and setup process. The videos were used to promote the apps on Facebook, YouTube and Twitter, building both brands and their overall marketing presence.
iQuitSmoking app launch video
We used the same format video as that of iQuit-App for the launch of the iQuitSmoking app since the underlying functions of both apps were so similar. Again, this edit was promoted on the usual social channels and helped spread the word about the app, thereby driving significant installs.
