Case Study

La Plagne 360 website

Deepblue produced the La Plagne 360 website, logo, photos and videos to provide the ultimate guide to the French ski resort of La Plagne, including 360 videos, preview videos and statistics for all lift and pistes

Overview

Taken together with Les Arcs, La Plagne forms the mighty Paradiski domain, the world’s third-biggest ski area. La Plagne 360 is the ultimate guide to La Plagne, the world’s most popular and most visited ski resort. Consequently, it is also one of the world’s most searched ski areas in search engines.

By giving an unrivalled view of the pistes and lifts through a mix of compelling guides, statistics, 360 video, preview videos and 3D animated flythroughs, we produced the most comprehensive guide to skiing and snowboarding in La Plagne / Les Arcs Paradiski. We also performed extensive Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) on the site, propelling it to the top of the Search Engine Results Pages (SERPs) despite extensive competition from long-established rivals – no small task considering the weight of traffic these sites produce.

La Plagne 360 is the best guide to La Plagne.

Responsive website

La Plagne 360 is built with a Fully Responsive website that performs across all devices, mobile, tablet, laptop and desktop. The site scales by device to give the ultimate user experience.

By studying our user data, we quickly learned that around 70% of La Plagne 360 users visited the site on mobile devices, making this responsive optimisation all the more important.

Icon / logo design

We deliberately kept the La Plagne 360 logo simple, using a block base in the traditional red colour featured in the iconic La Plagne logo with a basic LP lettering on top.

This simple – yet very striking – logo was highly effective in making an immediate impact across all media from the main social sites to email templates and the LP360 website itself. It is immediately identifiable and also aided considerably in our search engine page results, making it clear listing content belonged to La Plagne 360. In this case, less is most definitely more.

marketing / SEO

As La Plagne is the world’s most popular ski resort, getting the LaPlagne360 website to the top of the search engine rankings was crucial to the venture’s success. Without traffic, the site wouldn’t reach market penetration and, in turn, wouldn’t turn profit.

Deepblue planned and coordinated a detailed, in-depth marketing drive to ensure the site earned high rankings in Google. Indeed, this SEO was so successful that over 80% of the site’s traffic now comes from generic search queries under key terms like La Plagne guide, La Plagne best pistes, La Plagne resort guide, etc.

Promo and resort videos

Deepblue has always been a great proponent of video as the best medium for promoting a company and extending its reach. With La Plagne 360, video formed the backbone of our social media publicity while also giving an unrivalled view of the resort. Below are just a few of our videos produced for the LP360 site.

La Plagne 360 branding advert

Deepblue produced this high-impact advert for La Plagne 360 to detail the services offered by the site and its unique content and guides. This short, 60-second edit provided the perfect enticement to build site visitor numbers while also promoting the LP360 brand.

The ad was used and shared extensively across all social channels – YouTube, LaPlagne360 Facebook, Twitter/X, TikTok and Instagram.

La Plagne by month

We produced this short edit to help promote a new section on the La Plagne 360 detailing a month-by-month breakdown of conditions across the resort. Consequently, we compiled previous snow reports into one short engaging edit to educate users about what they could expect. The video was used for social marketing and promotion – particularly on Facebook – and was very successful with over 200 shares.

The guides can be found at La Plagne in December, La Plagne in JanuaryLa Plagne in FebruaryLa Plagne in March and La Plagne in April.

See La Plagne in a day

Deepblue produced this video for visitors new to La Plagne to help them discover the massive area by taking a route around the resort. We specifically chose intermediate blue runs that would suit the greatest number of skiers and snowboarders.

The video is featured on the ‘See the best of La Plagne in a day‘ page on the LP360 site and is also accompanied by a hi-res, downloadable piste map with numbered markers to help riders follow the route.

Champagny best blue runs

The success of the La Plagne 360 site was largely down to its exclusive video content showing all aspects of a holiday to the resort. To help showcase this extensive video library, we made compilation videos detailing the best intermediate pistes in the Champagny sector of La Plagne, including downloadable hi-res piste maps showing the route.

This edit was used on the ‘Best blue runs in La Plagne Champagny‘ page on LP360.

Aime 2000 best blue runs

With so much great video content, Deepblue recognised an opportunity to put together exclusive video guides showing the best of La Plagne. As the area is so popular among intermediate skiers and snowboarders, it was almost a no-brainer to target this demographic with routes on blue (intermediate-level) pistes. The video guide was accompanied by a hi-res, downloadable, numbered piste map to help riders follow the route.

This edit was used on the ‘Best blue runs in La Plagne Aime 2000‘ page on LP360.

Plagne Centre blue runs

The Plagne Centre sector of La Plagne is probably the most popular and most populous area of the resort and encompasses runs around Centre, Plagne Soleil and Plagne Villages. As this area is also quite big, Deepblue produced this guide video showing a route to find the best intermediate (blue) runs to help holiday-makers new to the resort. We also designed hi-res, downloadable piste maps to let riders take the route by following the numbers.

Both the route map and video can be found on the ‘Best blue runs La Plagne, Plagne Centre‘ page on LP360.

Plagne Bellecôte blue runs

Plagne Bellecôte is another of La Plagne’s most popular areas and encompasses both Bellecôte and Belle Plagne. Moreover, this area is ideally suited to intermediate skiers and snowboarders with a plethora of blue (intermediate-level) pistes. To help people new to La Plagne to get around, we produced this guide video and accompanying numbered piste to showcase the best runs.

Both the route map and video can be found on the ‘Best blue runs La Plagne, Plagne Bellecôte‘ page on LP360.
